A word from the author...
This book is a guide to help developers, business owners, CEOs, facilities managers develop a successful strategy for the design and construction of masterplans, renovation projects and new buildings. It is based on the practical application of architectural and urban design knowledge, adapted and refined in the field over 25 years. I have illustrated key ideas with numerous case studies.
I argue that the SPECS principles (simplicity, precision, efficiency, collaboration and sustainability) are the essential ingredients critical to the design, planning approval and smooth process to get the project built. Ultimately the aim is to develop a facility that enhances your brand, costs less to run, enables your staff to be more productive and attracts new tenants, new pupils or new members.
