Architects in Camden
We are a London based architectural practice specialising in going planning permission and listed building consent for projects in conservation areas in Camden.
Camden’s history dates back to the 18th century when it was a rural area outside the old boundaries of London. By the Victorian age it had become a thriving part of London, thanks in part to the development of the Regent’s Canal and the arrival of the railway.
Camden’s architecture is a mix of Georgian and Victorian terraced houses, converted warehouses, and 20th-century buildings that all contribute to its distinctive urban fabric.
Camden is home to several historic buildings and landmarks that contribute to its unique character. One of the most iconic is The Roundhouse Theatre (grade 2 listed) that was built in 1847. The building started its days as a railway shed to remove clinker from locomotive fireboxes and carry out maintenance and repair. The locomotives would then be turned on a giant turntable, hence the building’s unmistakable circular shape. The building was a well-known music venue in the 1960s where Pink Floyd and The Doors both performed. The memory of those days inspired the conversion to a modern-day performing arts complex.
Camden also contains Holborn, an area of London which contains John Soane’s house and museum, one of London’s best kept secrets. Across the road from the museum is Lincolns Inn Fields and around this park are many of the skriking new buildings belonging to the London School of Ecomonics.

Renovation of Listed and Historic Buildings in the London Borough of Camden
We have been involved in a number of complex renovation projects in historic settings including the grade 2* listed Roundhouse Theatre in Camden Town and listed buildings in Mayfair and Bloomsbury in London. We understand heritage projects are about a deep understanding of conservation principles, historic and cultural interpretation, recalling lost memories and bringing the stories of the past to life.
We take a forensic approach to conservation looking at every detail of the building was made and how its setting has changed over time. This helps us understand heritage values, historic development and guides our approach to how we alter and adapt the building to meet modern day requirements.
To achieve this it is necessary to collaborate with planners, urban designers, clients and the community to ensure a successful outcome for projects within a heritage setting. Not only does the listed building need to be carefully repaired but the setting of the building including the design of the public realm, lighting, pathways and landscape and vitally important to the overall success of a project.

We developed our expertise in Sport working on the London 2012 Olympic Games as an advisor to the Olympic Delivery Authority.
We have built a new boating pavilion in Hyde Park and recently completed the renovation of Leiths School of Food and Wine in West London.
